Free meals and snacks this summer for youth 18 and younger

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) will provide meals and snacks at no cost to all children aged 18 and younger from June 9 through August 29. The meals and snacks are offered through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program. Kids and teens do not need to be enrolled in Minneapolis Public Schools; any youth 18 and under may participate.

More than 60 schools, parks, recreation centers, libraries and community sites in Minneapolis are participating. No sign-up is needed – just show up. Community sites include Minneapolis Public Parks, Hennepin County Libraries, and other local sites.

Contact the park or library directly for building hours, meal times and types (breakfast, snack, super power box, dinner). Northside sites [as of this printing] include Creekview Rec Center, 5001 Humboldt; EMERGE Community Development, 1834 Emerson; Farview Rec, 621 N 29th Ave;  Folwell Park, 1615 Dowling; North Commons Park, 1801 James Ave; North Mississippi Regional Park, 5116 North Mississippi Drive; North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry; and Webber Park Library, 4440 Humboldt.

The “Free Meals for Kids” app can also help determine hours and meal types. Food will be provided during specific times and must be eaten on site. Download the Free Meals for Kids app to find locations. Find more info at mpschools.org/departments/cws/summer-meals.
