Solar United Neighbors (SUN), a national nonprofit organization working across multiple states including Minnesota will host a free educational webinar on August 5 to help you understand solar energy and learn about affordable pathways to clean energy through their “Switch Together” solar group-buying program.
This is the last year the 30% Solar Investment Tax Credit will be available to residential solar customers.
SUN is partnering with the Hennepin County Climate and Resiliency Department on the Switch Together solar group-buying program, which has helped promote this opportunity to Hennepin County residents.

Solar 101 Webinar #2: Tuesday, August 5, 7-8:30 p.m. mobilize.us/solarunitedneighbors/event/810552
During this interactive session, participants will learn about the benefits of solar energy and how the Switch Together Solar group can save them money from a vetted solar installer. The webinar will address common questions including: the economics of solar; if your roof is good for solar; how the solar group-buy Switch Together works to save you money and time; the basics of solar technology incentives for qualifying homeowners that can cover most or all of the costs to go solar; and how to access the federal solar investment tax credit and other incentives.
The webinar will detail SUN’s Switch Together program, which opened for Twin Cities metro area residents on June 25. This group-buying program for rooftop solar, battery storage and electric vehicle chargers helps homeowners navigate solar with confidence through vetted installers and expert support. The program is open for new members until September 10, 2025, with more than 1,300 residents already signed up.
By bringing people together to go solar as a group, Switch Together negotiates competitive pricing and secures quality installations, typically delivering up to 18% savings — around $5,000 off an average-sized system.
