K’s Revolutionary Catering & More

Creators of K’s Revolutionary Catering, Chef K Taylor and Mariam Omari.

A Northside soul with citywide connections

As someone who has hosted a lot of events on the Northside through our neighborhood associations, Polar Parent PTA, and the Community Garden, we have utilized some delicious caterers with menus that leave an impression. But I gotta be honest, K’s Revolutionary Catering & More is at the top of that list. Their food is rich in flavor, that when you are eating it, you know it’s medicine not just for your body, but also your spirit. You realize you slow down just so you can savor the experience in hopes that it won’t end too soon.

I am excited to focus on this powerful duo in this edition of our “Buy Local, Shop Local” Small Business highlight.

K’s Revolutionary Catering & More was created by Kotiareenia “Chef K” Taylor and Mariam Omari. Both Africans born in America, Chef K was born and raised in south Minneapolis. Mariam is a first-generation Kenyan immigrant also raised on the southside. Together they bring a cultural food experience that is memorable and comforting. They intently create food with love to feed the soul, cooking for the revolution through partnership.

They got a little something for everyone. Their menu is extensive with appetizers, soups, platters, home-style, desserts etc., but here’s a taste: artichoke crostini’s, rosemary cannelloni bean dip, gumbo, chicken sugar, curries, mini frittatas and quiche, sweet potato pie…. you must go check it out online on their website!

If you are not familiar with K’s Revolutionary Catering, you are in for a treat. I didn’t want to edit their words, so I am leaving them here for you to enjoy.

What inspired you to create the business?

We founded K’s Revolutionary Catering & More from a love of good food and a desire to nourish the community. Both Chef K and I have long histories in hospitality, and we wanted to create something meaningful — a business that celebrates culture, brings people together, and reflects the resilience and diversity of the communities we serve. Food is our tool for connection, healing and joy.

How did you choose the location of your business?

We operate from a South Minneapolis kitchen that’s not open to the public, but our roots are firmly based in North Minneapolis. North Minneapolis is where we began, and where much of our work and community-building happens. From there, we’ve grown to serve clients across the entire Twin Cities metro and surrounding suburbs — from Chanhassen in the west to Stillwater in the east. We chose this region because it’s home, and because we believe in building relationships across communities.

How has your business connected to your neighborhood?

Our business is deeply woven into the North Minneapolis community. Over the years, we’ve catered nonprofit gatherings, community celebrations, milestone events and more. These experiences have allowed us to build meaningful relationships, collaborate with other small businesses, and become a trusted presence in the neighborhood. At the same time, we serve clients across the Twin Cities who appreciate our unique, culturally grounded approach to food and service — all while keeping our commitment to quality and care at the center of what we do.

What events do you have going on right now that you would like to highlight?

We’re gearing up for several exciting events, including our 10-year anniversary celebration next spring. We’re also preparing seasonal catering menus and continuing our popular StayWell Tonic — a locally brewed turmeric and ginger tea that’s become a community favorite. We stay active through speaking engagements, community gatherings, and partnerships with local organizations and businesses. Even if you’re not planning your own event, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy our food at gatherings we proudly support throughout the Twin Cities.

We offer customized menu creation for events ranging from 10 to 500 guests, with flexible service options from buffet-style catering to full-service experiences. Our culinary expertise extends far beyond a standard menu — we love collaborating with clients to bring their visions to life, providing thoughtful, nourishing food and exceptional service every time.

Anything you want the community to know about you?

At K’s Revolutionary Catering & More, we are more than caterers — we are your neighbors. Our kitchen may be tucked away, but our hearts and service reach far and wide. We take pride in meeting the diverse needs of our clients with love, care, and creativity. Whether we’re serving in North Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, or the suburbs from Chanhassen to Stillwater, we are committed to delivering memorable food and warm service. We are grateful to every customer who has supported our journey and look forward to continuing to serve and celebrate this incredible community.

So folks – please do yourself a favor and check out their website and social media accounts. You will be inspired, hungry and content knowing you have the perfect place to cater your next event. Another very notable aspect of K’s Revolutionary Catering is their Stay Well Tonic. I have had this tonic and every time I drink it, it brings me life. Stay Well Tonic is the pick me up and an investment in your health you have been looking for. Check out their website for ordering.

Thank you Chef K and Mariam for your heart and soul when it comes to nourishing the community. Your inclusion with food for those who have specific needs, along with providing whole food for our whole bodies is commendable. If I could eat the food you make every day, every day would be the best day.

Stay Well Tonic! Brewed in small batches by hand, Stay Well Tonic can be enjoyed cold or hot, day or night. Ten ingredients to keep you balanced: water, honey, ginger, turmeric, pure maple syrup, fresh lemon, cayenne pepper, black pepper and cinnamon.
