Joanne and I (Danielle), co-founders of Humboldt Honey Mpls are now two years into this beekeeping journey. 2024 was our year of mentorship and shadowing local beekeeper Lynn. This year, we took the training wheels off and ventured into our apiaries as keepers of the bees. All on our own.
We are so grateful for the community’s support and excitement for not only locally sourced honey, but for the care of our community bees.
Last year, everyone who purchased a jar of honey from us were offered a tour of The Story Garden and an opportunity to meet the bees. Almost everyone took us up on the offer to see where their honey came from and meet the little creatures working non-stop to deliver their medicine.
We are a small operation working in the city and thus don’t have a permanent extraction location. It takes days to transform a garage into a sticky drippy honey operation. Thus, at Humboldt Honey Mpls we harvest once a year. This then gives you, our neighbors, friends and customers honey we call “Garden Variety.” It brings together all the flower flavors of the garden and yards around The Story Garden giving us a rich golden honey perfect for every spoonful.
This year we are scheduled to extract honey in the beginning of September. This means, for you, our valued neighbors, honey will be available to you for purchase by September 28.
