Securing new KMOJ Radio broadcast facility

Senator Bobby Joe Champion says that the work being done to secure the future broadcast site for KMOJ Radio in North Minneapolis will ensure the station maintains its place as a central hub for important news, information and music that the community has relied on for nearly half a century. The future site of the facility is planned for the intersection of Oliver and Lowry Avenues.

Senator Champion, who delivered the Keynote Address at the KMOJ Radio site “reveal” event on October 15 in North Minneapolis, said the new facility will have a positive impact not only on the lives of Northsiders, but also on listeners across the Twin Cities, across the state and across the globe.

“For nearly 50 years, KMOJ has had its finger on the pulse of North Minneapolis and has served as an important voice of Black community and culture across the Twin Cities and beyond. It now has listeners across the globe,” said Champion. “As the station – and the community – work toward securing the resources that will allow KMOJ to move into a state-of-the-art new broadcast facility, it is not only securing its long and important legacy, but also fully committing to the community’s well-being far into the future.”
