Hats off to youth

On April 8 I attended the 4th Ward caucus night at Camden High School. When I walked into the auditorium I noticed a couple of things. First was that the place labeled as Precinct 7 didn’t have a space for my walker which I need to sit in. Second, and most importantly, I noticed four Camden High students working hard to set up the sound equipment and checking to make sure everything was working.

When they realized I was sitting on my walker in a different area, they took it upon themselves to fix the problem and switched two signs so I would have a space to sit with my precinct, which I very much appreciated. As it turned out there was also another person in my precinct who had a walker.

Later after asking a few different adults where I could find a handicap restroom and being told they didn’t know, I asked one of these students who took me right to it.

I watched these young people do a stellar job of running all the sound for the night, making announcements, giving directions and being overall great ambassadors for Camden High School.  Hats off to them!
