The Story Garden has never just been about providing access to fresh and organic food for the community. Growing connections to one another is a founding value of who we are. More now than ever.
We are excited about all of the building projects that have been accomplished onsite and look forward to creating more intentional growing and gathering spaces. But if connecting is what you are looking for, we want to make sure you know our schedule for the next couple months!
*Mutual Aid Swap Events: July 17, Clothing; August 26, Entertainment; September 16 Arts and Crafts; and October 24, Kitchen. Each event is from 5-7 p.m.
These events are designed to bring folks to garden, make neighbor connections, and help our communities to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Save Money. The last three events have been wonderfully successful. Folks are able to get items they need, harvest food from the garden, learn gardening tips, and meet new people. All items left over at the end of the event are given to the Central Lutheran Church Free store to ensure all items remain free to those who need it. Items can be dropped off early by contacting Danielle at danielle@gmail.com.
*Garden projects from 6-8 p.m.: July 3, Clean up community gathering space; July 9, Tend the Blvd; July 23, Design herb circle; and August 6, Build raspberry fence. While general maintenance happens at the garden through scheduled FB events, there are certain projects that need more hands-on deck. We would be so grateful for neighborhood support on these days to get these projects moved forward.
Community Connections from 5-6 p.m.: July 16, Letter writing to elected Officials; and August 14, Art and Happy Hour. Time to gather together, work on a fun project, talk and build community. These are BYOB events. Project supplies provided.
