After successful testing of the new splash pad, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) says that construction for improvements at Victory Park is complete.
The splash pad opened to the public on June 7. It shares the same seasonal schedule as other wading pools and water play facilities in parks adjacent to Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) buildings, which typically opened the day after the MPS school year ended.
The splash pad includes several water play features as well as seating, shade structures and other amenities.
This project brings the new splash pad to Victory Park following the demolition of the park’s wading pool, due to construction at the adjacent Loring Elementary School. These park improvements are based on the long-term plan for Victory Park and other Northside parks in the North Service Area Master Plan. Every neighborhood deserves a great park! This project includes major funding from NPP20, a historic agreement between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and the City of Minneapolis. NPP20 helps address racial and economic equity across 160 neighborhood parks and provides $11 million annually to maintain, repair and replace facilities. More info at minneapolisparks.org/NPP20.
