Students’ creativity and critical thinking on display at STEM Exhibition July 30

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is celebrating student-focused STEM learning on July 30 at six GEMS-GISE (Girls in Engineering, Math and Science/Guys in Science and Engineering) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Science) Academies. More than 2,500 MPS students will display their projects, which represent the culmination of six weeks of intensive problem-based learning over the summer.

“Our students have poured their creativity and critical thinking into tackling design challenges, developing engineering projects and building prototypes,” said MPS GEMS/GISE/STEM Coordinator Melinda Stapley. “You are invited to check out the MPS schools where the exhibition is happening and see first-hand how young minds are developing innovative solutions to complex problems.”

Exhibition locations on the Northside include Lucy Craft Laney Elementary (grades 1-5) 8:10 – 10:15 a.m.; and Olson Middle School (grades 6-8) 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
